ABOUT
KIDS OF THE REVOLUTION started as a love letter to the courageous people of Iran during the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom Revolution – it was a way to amplify their courage and resilience through something tangible. As a half-Kurdish, half-Persian woman in Toronto, this brand has, over time, evolved into a medium for exploring who I am while challenging the systems around me — patriarchy, capitalism, colonialism. As an angsty teen, I dreamt of being a fashion designer and a poet. This is my way of letting myself explore both of these realms.
I wanted to create fashion that did more than just dress you. These are pieces rooted in activism and identity. Every piece offered is genderless, size-inclusive, and made-to-order, so we reduce waste and keep things sustainable. But this brand is also about giving back. A portion of every sale goes to causes that support marginalized communities, so when you wear these pieces you’re contributing to something bigger. These pieces are built to say something — they carry stories, identities, and a deeper sense of purpose.
For those of us in the diaspora, these clothes are more than just a style choice. They’re a way to connect, to remember where we come from, and to find community through shared experiences.
As much as this is a place to purchase items that reflect your identity, I'll also be using this as a medium to explore writing, to share my learning and to express myself. This brand is my vehicle, and if it speaks to you, then it's for you too. Learning about ourselves and unlearning the systems of oppression is messy. But we don't have to do it alone. In some way, all of us from the global south are KIDS OF THE REVOLUTION. So, this brand is not just for me. It's for all of us.
Although this shop has changed since I launched in 2022, it still holds the words of Iranians at its core. As they say in Kurdish, Jin Jian Azadi (Woman Life Freedom). What has become increasingly true for me as I continue to learn is that none of us are free until all of us are free.
